Artstyle & Graphical Performance

Narrative
To be fair , the tale was never the grounds why I played Sonic game , but the storytelling in Sonic Frontiers storm me because of how desolate it is . In brusque , the plot revolves around Chaos Emeralds and their joining to Starfall Islands . While investigating , I had a fate of conversations with Sonic ’s friends Amy , Tails , and Knuckles .
While I apprise the attempt to fire the stakes with aroused storytelling , it could n’t keep me invested . The cutscenes are mostly dialogue sequences where not much is going on , and the vox acting sure as shooting does n’t help , as it ’s often improbable . That said , there are some positives ! Tails in reality showed adulthood as a character and was not just a one - dimensional buddy , and I laughed more than once when Sonic and Knuckles shared the screen . Their backchat was always a joy to watch .
What surprise me most about the level was the development of Dr. Ivo " Eggman " Robotnik . I do n’t expect much from villains in Sonic game , as it ’s enough just to have a crazy , malign architectural plan that Sonic has to prevent . But here , he ’s more than that ! I genuinely felt for him , especially when I discovered the reason for his actions .

Controls
Because the gameplay is fast and often relentless , Sonic game bet on near controls . gratefully , Sonic Frontiers is very easy to play and furnish multiple way to manipulate your movement . It helped that the biz gave me tolerance ; I did n’t have to work it perfectly to get the job done . You ’ll quickly get the hang of it , even if you ’re not a Sonic veteran .

Level Design
The most important component of platforming games is level design ; I do n’t necessitate much else if the secret plan is fun . Unfortunately , Sonic Frontiers is average at respectable in this department . The plot feels unfinished , as the three zone types are not that different . Having said that , I still think experiencing the Cyber Space levels are the most enticing reason to play Sonic Frontiers . They are the best parts of the plot , both visually and gameplay - wise . There are 30 of these grade spread across island , so you ’ll have a stiff diet of classic Sonic natural action . Unfortunately , they are pretty short , so I often play back them to experience the joyousness of a superb Sonic biz .

Verdict–Wasted potential
Sonic Frontiers feelsk like a big experiment where some ideas will be used as stepping stones . There are some first-class experiences hide between boring fights and stark levels . I ca n’t help but think this is a missed opportunity to deliver a tremendous Sonic biz , principally because those Cyber Space levels were so much fun . While I do have miscellaneous feelings , if you ’re a franchise fan , you should try out this game , especially if you want to adorn in a taradiddle with around two hours of cutscenes .
