High on Life follows the story of two teenagers left home alone after their parent go away on holiday . You ’re provide with your older sister , Lizzie , who intends to throw a house party . alas , things go south as Earth becomes occupy by alien , with your only help being a spill gun named Kenny . Kenny drag you away to another major planet , where you learn to become a premium hunter to hold open and protect what is left of mankind . As a whole , the story paint an incredibly playfulness and colourful house painting for players who have never experienced a world make by Justin Roiland .
Even though there were many moment worthy of being quoted in workaday life , and , there were also enough more that were acts of throwing ideas to the paries and seeing what bind . It was almost as though these were implemented after the game had been finished to allow for longer playtime . These points , along with the game ’s totality , still give improbably memorable moments and duologue . One such moment is when Lizzie is taken away by her boyfriend , even after Gene had argued for her not to have anything more to do with him . This mission as a whole played out within about half an time of day and was very fun but did n’t bring anything to the plot . Many instances in High on Life seem like that fussy deputation : fun and colorful but without much weight .

Atmosphere
High on Life ’s atmosphere is very rich in colouration and dialogue . Most NPCs you see have dialogue that spark when the player passes by . Even though many of these grapheme ca n’t be spoken to , they still provide depth to the Earth . Unfortunately , these two unbelievable features seemed to conceal how small the game ’s playable expanse really are . Besides the area where you ’re carry to go , there really are n’t any out of sight areas or collectibles that you may look for out . count that High on Life is a Metroidvania - case plot , most levels did invite you to return after you acquired something that would countenance you proceed further .
Something else I comment was how you could talk with some NPC plainly for atmospherical reasons . Sometimes , these part would give you things with no genuine purpose besides being rum . For instance , there is an instance where you may conform to with an unknown who , after some conversation , decides to give you exotic sperm for free . Why ? Because it ’s a risible affair to do . Voice Acting
High on Life provides some of the best voice acting in modern gaming . Justin Roiland voice your principal weapon system , a Gatlian identify Kenny . Unfortunately , Justin ’s vocalism acting is fantastically modified , so his picky acting is very similar to most other character he has played that fans are intimate with . The real hotshot of the biz are your other Gatlians , Gus , Sweezy , Creature , and Lezduit , who provide more setting to the musician ’s situation . The design of their playacting makes them systematically important from beginning to end . Most of the fourth dimension , the onscreen conversations will be pass between the gas pedal themselves as they conclude their issues or even just comment on the state of matter of things around you .
Most other role you ’ll derive across will also discourse with you and supply their dialog and liquid body substance to the world . In fact , many of the pick that are made throughout the game are a termination of these conversations . High on Life is very , very visually stunning . The world and characters are full of bright colors and expectant computer architecture . There is so much to expect at , even if there is n’t a bunch to explore , and everything is very worth attend at . The contingent that the Squanch Games squad put in is very ostensible , and there does n’t seem to be an inch of missed space . Even the antic nature of some of the gunman , particularly Creature and Lezduit , are fun to appear at and inspect as you play . Since they make up almost a quarter of the screen when they appear , having something fun to wait at almost all time was very refreshing .
Unfortunately , a few case of very obvious AI artistry inside the agonist ’s way completely take away from the integral experience while inside that particular space . This case of art was not used in all of the game , but its implementation was very out of shoes and almost made me question the legitimacy of other in - game art .

Verdict - It’s out of this world
High on Life was a merriment experience from begin to cease . Not only was the gameplay playfulness and exciting , but its dialogue and general liquid body substance made it even more so . Hopefully , the end and general secret plan concept are enough for the developer to expand more on this world , whether in the variant of DLC or a sequel . The final few shot are among the most hilarious I have ever encountered , and it would be a ignominy if we could n’t see this world again at some point in the future .
